i'm going switch imac desktop pc , have been macbook pro user years. needless thrilled because not pc fan @ all. don't have yet , planning new 2017 27" imac 4.2 ghz i7-7700k processor, 32gb ram, 1tb ssd. 1 thing on new imac on pc use handbrake render h.264 1080p mp4 mkv files using high quality custom settings , h.265 4k once future appletv's support. current pc running windows 7 64 bit, has i7-4770k (not overclocked) processor, 16gb ram , corsair h80i cpu cooler 2 ssd drives. when loading handbrake que several video files on pc 4 cores running @ 100% , not go on 57° celcius happy with. holding on pc purpose if imac has problems.
main concern cooling. running processor @ 80° or higher extensive times can damage computer , shorten life of processor , want avoid that. going want avoid imac or there ways sufficiently cool it?
i've got same spec imac you. handbrake encodes run temps 95c-100c instantly along maxing out fan speed on machine. apple says fine , within tolerances. decide.
