Other Setup new iPhone from iCloud or iTunes? At store? At home?

maybe i'm on thinking this... but.. want trade in old iphone can apple credit put towards newer iphone. (i'm assuming i'll best trade in way?)

i've heard setting iphone icloud backup not transfer information itunes backup? want ensure transfers (notes, messages, apps, etc.)

backup phone prior going store, prep phone trade in (wiping out data, signing out of icloud, etc.), go store , trade in & purchase new phone, go home , set new device?

feel i'm on thinking because can't possibly complicated. want make sure don't lose in transition.

 

i backup itunes , cloud first, , after upgrade go home apple store new phone , restore itunes backup.

it's faster via itunes , uses less wifi bandwidth, since music , movies go on iphone via usb. newer ios versions , itunes 12.7.x still restore apps via wifi after restoring backup.

both restore methods should include app data, including imessages or call logs or camera roll if aren't using icloud photo library; restore you'll still download via wifi or lte of icloud data, icloud photo library, , email, regardless of whether restore cloud or itunes.

, not of media restored icloud backup - still have sync when cloud restore done finish. restoring itunes higher res music ripped cd or bought in 24/96 res, , not 256k versions uploaded itunes match. ripped dvd movies re-installed via itunes, , not movie purchased via itunes store reinstalled onto phone.

in past, if music 256k itunes plus, when restored via cloud downloaded 128k versions instead of 256k version had in itunes. think changed, hated how phone full of 128k versions instead of higher res.

use icloud backup restore in case of emergency, restore still requires sync itunes rest of media on, after restores else cloud.
