iMac Pro or 15'' MacBook Pro + 5k Display


hi,

video editing (1080p @ moment , 4k in future) , podcasting.
aware, pretty light work , imac pro total overkill that.

nevertheless, have budget of $5.000 either spend on:
- 15'' macbook pro + 5k display
- base imac pro

in terms of value money, advise (i work home)?
given work, notice benefits imac pro (mostly rendering , exporting files final cut pro , logic)?

thinking is: if don't need imac pro, if can speed work compared macbook pro, worth it.

thoughts? thanks!
 

i ‘downgrading’ macbookpro 15” tb ultrafine displays imac pro. reason: need portability of notebook , never saw real increase in needed speed when upgraded late 2014 mbpro late 2016 mbpro. , regularly find love more snappyness , speed when working hard hope moving imac pro deliver.
afraid culprit adobe cc though, find out in couple of weeks...

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fin...
