Just moved from NRC to iSmoothRun - Quick Thoughts

after 6 years of using nrc (and previous versions way nike+ipod), i've made move. nike users days recall how more reliable old apps were, they've added more , more features, they've sacrificed app stability. plus website has been mess long time, @ least isn't written in flash anymore.

i've been migrating nike data other locations on last year using smashrun , rungap. recent updates wos has improved 3rd app integration apple health/activity.

i've been looking decent running app has iphone , aw apps work together. wanted developer isn't interested in locking data onto servers. lastly, didn't want deal subscription service features included in nrc (so eliminated endomondo).

little research lead me ismoothrun. it's $5, one-time purchase. has auto-export of run data services use (nike , smashrun). seems developed runners and/or fitness folks. , of all, apps works seamlessly between iphone , aw.

went first run morning. had little glitch in beginning when starting off. started/paused few times think double hitting buttons. eventually, got going. gps accuracy dead-on ... @ least it's consistent distances i've gotten nrc. aw screen display simple, clear , readable. auto-pause take little getting used , i've got set lowest time (5 seconds), think pauses accounted correctly.

post run, didn't have issues exporting run smashrun. showed up. export nike little more eventful. took 5 minutes run show on nrc (and nike.com). map, hr, splits, etc. came on expected , accurately. nrc (on iphone) crashed , re-open. killing app didn't help. re-booting didn't help. had update app reopen.

after reopening , looking , adding info run, crashed again. took delete, reinstall of nrc working.

figured out causing problem. changing shoe assignment data causes discrepancy between app data , server (at least that's theory) , prevents app opening. moral of story not mess shoes after run imported. kinda pain, ismoothrun tracks shoe mileage, it's not lost data.

rungap doesn't import data ismoothrun, can data health , nrc. data health doesn't include map (which consistent nrc , i'm guessing other 3rd party apps), nike does. thing have wait run import nike before rungap can access it. suspect won't have rely on rungap anymore exporting data, rungap have nice feature compare runs have same gps map can compare pace between runs.

anyways, after 1 use, think i'm ready stop using nrc record runs, i'll still use keep data , badges. smashrun primary repository data.

hope informative others looking other app options running.

i ghost feature in ismoothrun , intervals great can’t use on certified high school track it’s not accurate on distance @ all. other apps dead on .25 mile per lap ismooth way way off. on trail runs it’s dead on accurate got intervals on track. went runkeeper , stopwatch track intervals.
