Pandora Grants Free Tier Listeners Access to On-Demand Features if They View 15-Second Ad

pandora today announced let use company's free, ad-supported tier access on-demand listening after viewing 15-second video ad. listeners can search specific song, album, playlist, , they'll have option view ad in question, after pandora premium listening session unlock.

previously, users on pandora's free tier had listen whatever song appeared next on radio station or playlist tuned in to. new update, these listeners can experience that's closer traditional on-demand streaming music services pandora's own premium service, , apple music , spotify, albeit after being forced view ad.

crucially, pandora's press release doesn't clarify how free listeners have view these 15-second ads in order retain pandora premium on-demand listening sessions.
pandora premium launched earlier in 2017, combining existing radio features new on-demand service serves personalized recommendations each user. in total pandora has free tier, pandora plus ($4.99/month), , pandora premium ($9.99/month). plus offers unlimited skips , replays lacks on-demand abilities, new functionality available plus subscribers.
