Apple Shares Fix for File Sharing Issues Following macOS High Sierra Security Update

apple afternoon published a new support document walks users through repairing file sharing options on macs after installing 2017-001 security update macos high sierra 10.13.1, which released morning.

shortly after security fix released , users began installing it, file sharing complaints began surfacing on macrumors forums. affected users saw file sharing fail authenticate across multiple macs. macrumors reader joedec:
according the document, macos high sierra users cannot access file sharing after installing security update need complete following steps:

1. open terminal app, in utilities folder of applications folder.
2. type sudo /usr/libexec/configurelocalkdc , press return.
3. enter administrator password , press return.
4. quit terminal app.

apple issued morning's security update address major vulnerability enabled root superuser on mac blank password , no security check.

problem has been fixed on machines running macos high sierra 10.13.1, current release version of macos high sierra, apple has not yet addressed vulnerability in macos high sierra 10.13.2, available both developers , public beta testers.

update: apple appears have released revised version of security update, valid systems running both macos 10.13.0 , 10.13.1. revised version may address issue in original version resulted in file sharing problems.

OWC Envoy Pro SSD Enclosure - Alternatives?
