External monitor flickers when connected to Thunderbolt 3 dock via DP

i have macbook pro 13-inch 2016 w intel iris 550. it's connected owc thunderbolt 3 dock. purchased dell u2717d monitor , connected dock via included dp mini dp cable.

monitor works, however, slight flicker on lower part of screen on occasion. image doesn't switch off, jumps briefly horizontally.

tried resetting smc, had no luck. thoughts?

thinking next step might purchase usb-c dp cable.

 

@ofixler if it's same issue mbp 15" 2016, caldigit ts3 , dell p2715q, usb-c dp cable work flawlessly, can enable mst on display (there 3 options - disabled, primary, secondary - need third one) , continue using dp mini dp cable - stop flickering (rarely) lose right resolution right after connect dock, disconnecting , reconnecting instantly helps. ok laptop, display, dock , cable. apparently there incompatibility displays.
