Apple TV vs Roku

i never used apple tv, barely know can do.

tv has built in roku. allows me select play playstation, netflix, amazon , cable tv. unfortunately don't have spotify on it...

1. apple tv offer me roku not.
2. roku offer me that's better in apple tv.

 

most apps available on both platforms, there may handful available on 1 or other, might influence decision. but, rapidly changing topic. currently, atv not offer amazon prime video, should change month. many users, prime key decision point in decision. don't believe spotify has atv app, can airplay spotify mac or ios through atv. there apps iheart, pandora, , apple music if of thing.

atv offers users mac and\or ios devices seamless airplay audio or video apple devices. if content provider supports single sign on, atv might easier authenticate new apps. atv syncs photos icloud, when out , , take photos, automatically appear on atv. atv associates itunes rental\purchases itunes account, instantly available if use itunes content. finally, atv supports home kit, becoming hub connects home kit enabled smart home devices door locks, lights, fans, etc.

if main use video on demand various apps, not additional benefit atv, if other apple centric capabilities of interest, atv might nice addition.

personally, use atv enable whole house audio streaming when entertaining. itunes on mac, select both of atvs , speaker connected airport express audio output , start playing music throughout house, , on patio. takes little thought enable, , can controlled app on ios devices.
