LG 5K 27" Scaled resolutions = blurry


hello, got new lg 5k 27", after calibration display. best out there 5k imac.

heres problem

find native resolution 2560x1440 make abit small im using 2048x1152 or 2304x1296 everythings become little more blurry native, odd me though 2048x1152 given option in system preferences doesnt optimize sharpness.

technically know should possible due monitor supporting 5k had same issue older thunderbolt display managed create custom resolution (2048x1152) in switchresx generated crisp sharpness.

facing similar issue and/or know solution this?
 

it's because uneven scaling factor. 5120x2880 display suitably scale "looks like" 2560x1440 (default) or 1280x720 (massive).

high sierra has font smoothing bugs; might you're noticing, @ non-default resolution.

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
