4k multicam video editing MPB recommendations


greetings. let's make short. have been editing video on 2012 macbook air (2.0 i7 dual core w/ 8gb ram). have been limping through ok, have signed on local music concert recording multicam 4k video. playback not possible , when have cut between cameras in timeline in drops many frames can't watch transition.

time upgrade... trying stay under $2000.

go 2015 macbook pro 2.5/8 or 2016 2.6? (both 16gb of ram)

2016 worth $400?

have experience 4k multicam - both job equally without dropping frames during playback?

(p.s. trying avoid proxy editing)
 

there's "digital video" section here @ macrumors pose these questions.

opinion only, if want edit 4k video, need "beefed-up" 27" 5k imac...

Other Unknown error

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fin...
