MBP trackpad/mouse issue

hi all.

have late 2008 mbp (first unibody believe) in family , have been trying fix past few hours, can't wrap head around issue.

laptop has worked without issue long time until last night. when turned on, click/tap on trackpad didn't work. thinking might problem trackpad, connected wired mouse it, clicking didn't work either. thinking might software related, reinstalled os, problem still persists. since then, have tried reinstall 2 oses (10.10 , 10.11) on 2 different ssds , hdd, problem still persists.

have no idea else problem , else can try. thing can pinpoint issue silverlight installed few hours before happened. until time, computer used pretty same on daily basis (spotify , pages).

appreciate on try next.

does physically click when computer shut down ?. if not, it's battery has swollen enough affect trackpad.

there's setting checkbox : system preferences - accessibility - mouse & trackpad - ignore built-in trackpad when mouse or wireless trackpad present

@ least that's in sierra, although used in universal access.

if checking allows usb mouse work, use now, although battery can swell quite & enough damage other components, or case.

trackpad preferences : allow tap click : might make useable in meantime.
