APFS Experts: Imaging APFS Drives From One Machine to Another


so bought new machine. prior machine apfs formatted. easy way me move data image 1 machine , restore image another. out of recovery->disk utility. when boot recovery shows drive no partition. when go boot machine, boots fine etc. there no disk errors. discovered there "container" created, assuming result of apfs conversion , new structure. post have linked below states nothing can done imaging , restoring this, , creating image macintosh hd greyed out otherwise.

how image drive restore onto machine?

prefer first party opposed third party method. cannot imagine not being able done.

Other Unknown error

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fin...
