Is my SSD starting to die?


in last 6 months i've noticed significant sluggishness in performance of 2012 mba. chalked sierra/high sierra, downloaded ssdreporter out of curiosity , states drive @ 38% health, according app "warning threshold." can take seriously? didn't think 5 year old ssd degraded. there other way can check health of ssd? , if failing, popping new 1 in solve lot of performance issues?
 

sure can depending on usage patterns. apple's ssd high quality exceptional write endurance. 5 years of heavy writing wear 1 of them out. simple not having enough ram can cause heavy write use. computer paging data in , out of ssd free ram.

if have 4gb ram. it's time upgrade new computer. 4gb doesn't handle anymore. can have single tab in chrome uses on 1/2 gb.

Other Unknown error

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fin...
