Macbook Air black screen after updated


i have macbook air purchased daughter college in august 2017. did update , since turn on , here chime screen stays black. have tried various steps such hift+control+option+power button @ same time few seconds holding "s" while powering , other options starting "p" , "r" , still nothing. have checked , caps lock button light turns on, other times during reboots doesn't. can't figure out going on didn't have money apple care, store says have send out repair $500 , barely putting roof on kid's heads current layoff @ work. know problem might me try @ home?
 

turn off first! hold down r , cmd turn on. here can start trying reload os

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fine
