[Question] Pairing Apple Watch without updating the iPhone

so iphone 6s on ios 9.3.2, , got apple watch series 3. in order pair phone watch says have update phone, , don't want update phone because of whole iphones getting slower through updates after new phone comes out, , never jailbroke either.

way around this? saw ask question here 7 months ago , guys said there isn't this, wondering if has changed since then.

nothing has changed. you’ll need update phone.
