Should I upgrade to High Sierra on my older macbook?

hi everyone,

i'm on 15 inch macbook pro mid 2010 - maxed out specs @ time:

2.66 ghz i7
8 gb 1067 ddr3
nvidia geforce gt 330m 512 mb
intel hd graphics 288 mb

frankly, still runs remarkably well! however, know new updates have more advanced features take more computing power, , i'm wondering if high sierra or not. has heard high sierra slowing down older machines, or safe update?

mactraker says can run latest version of macos (high sierra) on macbook pro. version of macos running now?
