How to Set Up Your New AirPods

airpods, introduced last december, apple's wire-free earphones have w1 chip inside simple pairing between devices.

airpods work magic, , while they're easy set up, process may not intuitive users received airpods christmas, thought we'd share quick, easy digest instructions.

  1. remove airpods packaging.
  2. leave airpods in airpods case.
  3. power on iphone or ipad, unlock it, , go home screen (aka main app screen).
  4. open lid airpods case.
  5. hold airpods case open lid next iphone or ipad.
  6. your ios device recognize airpods , you'll see popup connect airpods.

  7. tap "connect."
  8. you'll instructed press , hold on button of airpods case.

  9. press few seconds, , popup on iphone change "connecting."
  10. when connection complete, popup display battery life both airpods , case.

that's there it. once setup process has been completed, airpods re-pair ios device whenever open case lid. re-pairing process takes few seconds, airpods ready go whenever pull them out.

airpods linked icloud account, once pair them 1 device, other devices know exist. can switch connections between devices through standard bluetooth settings options, airpods listed on device you're signed icloud account.

on ios devices, go settings --> bluetooth , tap "airpods." on mac, click on bluetooth icon in status bar, choose airpods, , select "connect." on apple tv, open settings app, choose "video , audio," scroll down "audio," select "audio output" , choose airpods.

on ios devices, can use playing widget in control center select airpods, , on apple tv, can hold down home button on main apple tv screen bring shortcut audio options.

update: macrumors forum members have pointed out, when pairing ios device signed icloud account, step involving button press may not necessary. in situation, airpods should ready pair after opening case near iphone or ipad.
