iPhone X - wallpaper images look dull/dark

i'm running issue iphone x seems image quality gets reduced when set photo camera roll wallpaper. wallpaper images appear darker , more dull. attached couple pics illustrate i'm referring to. 1 image taken settings app (screenshot while trying crop/center image) , other desktop/wallpaper.

idea why image quality reduced when set photo wallpaper? design app icons "pop" more against wallpaper?

side note - in general seems pervasive on iphone x. iphone 6 seems it's brighter , images more "brilliant" (for lack of better term). whites seem brighter , colors seem "pop" more on iphone 6. iphone x display seems bit darker (even on max brightness truetone turned off) , dull.
 

noticed same thing on mine. have black wallpaper knicks logo in middle. in photos app, orange , blue in logo pop, once it's set wallpaper, colors seem darker. wad guess.

Other Unknown error

com.apple.DiskManagement.disenter error -119930878

here's odd one! 1 of our 2015 macbook air notebooks in office crashed , became unbootable after user clicked high sierra upgrade sierra on it. tried sorts of things working again, including both internet recovery , regular recovery. each time, partially install high sierra , stop error saying, "macos not installed on computer", followed specific error code mentioned in message subject line. have identically configured air (8gb ram, 512gb ssd, core i7) upgraded sierra high sierra without problems @ all, should work! thing able problem machine installing sierra usb thumb drive. did that, of user's data accessible again (nothing lost, thankfully!) , working normally. tried running high sierra upgrade again fresh app store download, hoping original issue stupid user powering computer off in middle of upgrade process. nope! exact same error , resulting unbootable machine. computer passes apple hardware tests flying colors , seems fin...
