How should Apple implement volume tap commands for Airpods (v1.0)?

just having think inevitable feature should see in future ios updates (prior airpods 2.0) & how best should implemented.

used think triple-tapping obvious choice, after using airpods while, having many taps opens chance of missing tap & registering double-tap, annoyingly mean you've skipped track eg.

i'm thinking - if possible - tap-hold command job done:

single tap-hold: engages slow rise in volume until release hold.
double tap-hold: engages slow fall in volume until release hold.

use single tap-hold or double tap-hold perform both increase/decrease functions, single/double tap-hold command assigned each airpod - left increase volume & right decrease volume.

based on assumption current airpods can detect 'hold' after tap. if not, i'm sad man thought had bright idea few minutes ago...

people's thoughts on how volume tap commands should incorporated airpods?

wouldn’t mind shelling out future iteration had swipe gestures.
